(Part of Health in Mind)

Oasis is a project for women from South Edinburgh who have mental health difficulties and those who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse. What do we offer: In a safe and friendly environment, Oasis workers provide a free and confidential service. The service includes practical and emotional support in therapeutic group settings as well as on a one-to one basis, access to information and resources, an activity group, “the new me” confidence building course and a drop-in. Therapeutic group:

These will run 3 times a year and consist of a 12 week programme looking at issues in order to develop constructive coping mechanisms with the aim of making everyday life easier to cope with.

One to one support:

This is offered to assist women who may benefit from support to deal with difficult issues when group work is not appropriate.

The new me:

This is an 8-10 week course which encourages women to look at issues relating to self esteem confidence and assertiveness.

Drop In:

We offer a drop-in service once a week for women attending any of the oasis services. The emphasis of this is on the women supporting each other and recognising their own experience and expertise in issues relating to mental health.

Home Visiting: This is a possibility but will depend on each persons needs and our resources at the time.
Childcare: It is possible to receive some help and support with childcare in order to attend services.
