The Training for Carers Project provides learning opportunities for unpaid carers sessions on issues that are relevant to them in their caring role. The aim of the project will be to develop and deliver a comprehensive programme of training for carers to support them in their caring role.
Courses are aimed at carers who wish to gain further knowledge, skills or understanding on a specfic illness or condition, the services avaible to the carer and cared for and support or information.
Sessions will enable carers to build on their own expertise and gain further knowledge and confidence from health professionals and peer support. Courses will range from one half day to seven weekly sessions. They will address the different points along the 'carer journey’ from the point at which caring begins to the time when caring comes to an end and will enable carers to identify and access additional support.
