What makes a good image gallery description?

What makes a good image gallery caption?

Note: images you add to ALISS will show at the bottom of the service page as shown:

Keep it short

Use around 3-6 words to caption the image. The caption is the title of the image, it will show under the image on the service page.

Block capitals

Please do not write in block capitals. They create barriers to accessibility for many individuals, including those with disabilities or learning difficulties. Using mixed cases can help ensure that information is accessible to everyone.

Website links

Please do not add website URLs to the caption field. Users will not be able to click any link added from the field. Website links can be added to the “Service Web Address” field. Some people might use screen readers, to search ALISS, if the link is not clickable, the screen reader might not recognise it as a link.

Location

Please do not add an address to the caption field. You can add this in Step 3 of this form.

Avoid jargon

Use plain language everyone can understand.
