North Ayrshire Council Sensory Impairment Team

The Sensory Impairment Team offers a range of
support services to you if you are blind, visually
impaired, deaf, hearing impaired or deaf blind. We will
work with you (including children), your families and
carers to help you maintain or regain independence.
We can also assess for specially adapted equipment
To help you with daily living tasks.

A range of support and services can be offered, which may
Include:

* providing specialist equipment to help you to
maintain as much independence in your daily
life as possible

* information and advice on all aspects of
visual/hearing impairment including directing or
referring you to other agencies who provide
services

* information on what welfare benefits you may be
entitled to

* training in areas such as communication,
independent living, orientation and mobility

Accessing our services
If you or someone you care for would benefit from our
Services then you can contact your local Social Services area office or the Sensory Impairment Team on 01294 310005, option 2 asking for an assessment of your needs.

Our offices are open Monday to Thursday 9am - 4:45pm and Friday 9am - 4:30pm. There is also a duty system in operation every Wednesday 9:30am to 4pm when you can visit our office to be seen by the duty officer.
