North Lanarkshire Womens Aid
North Lanarkshire Women’s Aid is a voluntary organisation based in Cumbernauld. We provide a confidential service that provides valuable information, support and temporary accommodation to women and their children who have experienced domestic abuse, campaign to raise awareness of this issue and support other domestic and sexual violence services throughout the area.
Founded in 1985, it has grown and now has responsibility for the Northern Corridor of North Lanarkshire (e.g.Cumbernauld Kilsyth, Stepps, Moodiesburn, Chryston, Mount Ellen, Gartcosh). We accept referrals from Housing, Social Work, educational professionals etc., We also accept self referrals. We offer a drop-in centre, support, and provide a 24hour on-call telephone service 365 days of the year.
As a Limited Company and registered Scottish Charity, North Lanarkshire Women’s Aid is controlled by an independent voluntary Board of Directors drawn from the local community and is also accountable to the Local Authority as the main funders.
