Pachedu

From a conversation between friends in July 2015 about the mental challenges that come from fitting in a community when you are perceived as an outsider, it was apparent that there was a need for minority ethnic groups to self-identify in order to navigate the barrier of isolation. PACHEDU was established in 2016 in Renfrewshire as a registered charity working with diverse minority ethnic groups across a broad range of protected characteristics according to the Equality Act 2010 to promote diversity, tolerance and dignity for humanity.
Our main aims are to increase the capacity of diverse minorities to be more visible and pro-active in shaping their communities. The vision of Pachedu can be summed up by the late Bishop Desmond Tutu who said, “My humanity is bound up in yours for we can only be human together.”

We aim to increase the capacity of diverse minorities in the West of Scotland to be more visible and pro-active in shaping their communities.

Support minority ethnic communities and other marginalised communities in and around West of Scotland to:
Reduce isolation
Promote cultural diversity and equality of opportunity
Bridge generational and diverse cultural backgrounds
Enhance the capacity of minority ethnic communities to advance their health and socio-economic activities
