Ruchill Furniture

Ruchill Furniture is a furniture re-use project. It take donations of unwanted furniture and household items which are in an acceptable condition. It cleans, repairs and restores the furniture and sells it on to customers who have little or no income.

The project delivers a much needed service for local people who are on low incomes or benefits, have chaotic lives or are struggling with life. The Scottish Government has identified that the provision of furniture as a key factor in supporting vulnerable people to avoid homelessness. Furniture is a basic necessity for people and for those who are financially constrained, this service helps many local residents. The communities of Maryhill, Ruchill and North Glasgow suffer from poverty and has a high level of benefits claimants. The project helps tackles key social issues such as poverty through the provision of affordable household goods, social isolation through helping users created a liveable home and engaging with the project.
