NOVA Service, Angus

Penumbra runs a Nova Service in Angus. It is based in Arbroath and works with adults experiencing mental health difficulties throughout the Angus area.

The Service provides flexible, person-centred and recovery-focused support. Individuals are offered one to one support, POWWOWS (Penumbra Workshops on Wellbeing) and Peer Support.

The primary aim of the service is to promote social inclusion through community integration and involvement. Individuals supported by the service are encouraged to access mainstream activities and increase their social network, which is achieved through careful planning of the individual’s personal goals. Self management and well-being tools are also offered.

The project has an employment worker who can provide support and guidance to individuals who are looking to get back into paid or voluntary work.

Another asset to the project is the support offered by peer workers, who can share their own lived experience of mental health and recovery journeys to encourage others to make positive changes in their lives.
