Aberdeen Linking Lives Befriending Service

by Aberdeen Linking Lives Claimed

Aberdeen Linking Lives is a befriending service aimed at older people who find themselves isolated or lonely and requiring some extra friendship and support. We match volunteers with older people who would like to see a friendly volunteer visitor on a regular basis for around one hour.

Our core approach involves linking volunteers (who are fully vetted and interviewed) with older people requesting regular home visits. These visits are carried out once a week or once a fortnight and last for between one and two hours.

Our aim is to significantly improve quality of life for as many isolated people as we can by developing new schemes year on year.

Our main criteria for admission to the scheme is for there to be clear evidence of social isolation and that our service is being requested by the person concerned. We regret that we are unable to arrange visits where there is a diagnosis of advanced dementia or certain mental health conditions.
