Assisted Shopping

Volunteers help vulnerable people and people with disabilities with their weekly shop. We offer transport there and home again, with drivers helping to carry your shopping. Service allows people to choose their own shopping and have some time out with others, knowing their needs are supported.

Staff members are on hand to support both volunteers and clients.
On Tuesday mornings, shoppers and volunteers meet at the Co-op, in Grantown, around 10.30am, do some shopping there and in other High Street shops, then go for a cuppa, cake or lunch at a local cafe. It is a small, friendly group and anyone is welcome to join in.

On Thursdays we meet at Tesco, Aviemore around 10.15am. This is a bigger group and we provide accessible transport for service users, as well as using local taxis for those who are more able or preferring this option. Occasionally we have coffees/teas and cake courtesy of Tesco, upstairs in their staff restaurant. Some clients visit a local cafe for refreshments/breakfast before they shop.

Volunteers assist by driving, guiding visually impaired people, pushing wheelchairs and trolleys, helping with shopping and packing at the checkouts. They load up shopping and carry it into clients' homes if needed.
