Befriending Service - Scottish Borders

by Alzheimer Scotland

Our one-to-one befriending service will support people with a diagnosis of dementia. Support is delivered by a trained volunteer either in a persons home or in the community.

We match our trained volunteers interests, hobbies and skills to that of the person living with dementia to ensure that a suitable match is made in the befriending relationship.

Our service aims to increase independence, sense of self, provide meaningful activities, improve confidence and wellbeing. The service will also enable carers to have short respite breaks and the opportunity to relax and engage with their own peers and the community.

We cover the whole Scottish Borders Area.
