Bereaved Parent Support telephone befriending
by Care for the Family Claimed ( Bereavement, Befriending )
We offer our telephone befriending to any parent who has lost a son or daughter from stillbirth up to approximately 35 years old, in any circumstance and at any stage along their journey of grieving.
The Bereaved Parent Support team know what grief and isolation feels like. It can put a strain on marriages, families and parents as they seek to care for surviving siblings. From this place of personal experience of living with loss, our network of trained volunteers can gently come alongside you through our telephone befriending support. Our service has achieved the Quality in Befriending Award from Befriending Networks.
It’s really simple to connect with a befriender. Here’s how it works:
1. Call or email Care for the Family and ask to be put in contact with a befriender. Your details will then be passed to our coordinator, who will call you (it may take a day or two).
2. After listening to your story, our coordinator will link you to a befriender whose experiences best match your needs and situation (matching as best we can either the age of the child or the circumstances in which they died).
3. The befriender will then contact you to start the befriending relationship and, during the conversation, will normally agree a mutually convenient time for the next call.
