CAP Debt Centre
by Integrate Scotland Claimed ( Money Advice, Self Directed Support, Befriending )
CAP’s methods for helping people out of debt is revolutionary. We believe that the best way of helping someone with personal debt is to build relationship with the individual instead of just providing advice. Relationship creates a sense of camaraderie and support that is often needed to help someone feel empowered to tackle their financial problems. Relationship means a place to turn to when life gets hard and a listening ear is needed. Debt advice gives people information and sends them on their way. CAP provides them with information and supports them long term to make lifestyle changes.
Through the free award-winning service we provide, clients are visited at home by a debt coach and a volunteer befriender over three structured visits. The CAP head office creates a liveable budget, negotiates with creditors directly so that the client no longer needs to and works to stop unfair interest and charges. Our clients make payments to a CAP plan to cover their bills and debt repayments all while being supported until they are debt free. Volunteer befrienders are also available as long as necessary to support them in various ways from simply being a listening ear to encouraging and facilitating an excluded or isolated person’s inclusion within community.
We also provide money courses that teach students and adults how to manage their money and create budgets.
