LGBT Headspace (mental health and wellbeing for LGBT people in Edinburgh)

by LGBT Health & Wellbeing Claimed ( LGBT Health, Mental Health Issues )

We offer a variety of services designed to promote positive mental health and wellbeing, including counselling, workshops, groups and individual mental health support sessions.

Mental health is important to all of us. You do not need to have a diagnosis of mental ill health to access any of our services. Mental Health support is a key focus for LGBT Health as the social hostility, stigma and discrimination sometimes faced by LGBT people can have a negative impact on our mental health and wellbeing.

All our services are confidential and offered free of charge, although we welcome donations.

- Individual support

We offer one-to-one appointments for you to find out more about mental health supports available and what services might best meet your needs. For some people this may be a one-off appointment by way of introduction to LGBT Health’s services. For other people this might include meeting on a number of occasions for information and support around their LGBT identity and/or mental health. This support would be offered on a monthly basis. People are welcome to bring a supporter along to these appointments if required.

To make an appointment or find out more about this service please contact Alison, our Mental Health Development Worker at alison@lgbthealth.org.uk or call her on 0131 652 3283 (please note that Alison only works 20 hours per week, usually across Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. She can often be busy in appointments or running groups, so she may be unable to reply immediately).

- Social events

We offer a rolling programme of social events which aim to promote positive mental health and emotional wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people, including those questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. Details of our mental health programme of social events can be viewed on our website, along with booking details and who to contact for more information: www.lgbthealth.org.uk/whats-on
