The Edinburgh Self Harm Project was opened in 2005 to provide a non-judgemental,
friendly and user led support service for people who self-harm (age 16+
The service provides a confidential environment where people can
talk about their concerns. We offer support to enable people to cope with
crisis by developing the skills and confidence needed to make positive
Getting a referral to the Self Harm Project
Our waiting list is curretly closed. We are unable to accept referrals at the moment. Please keep checking back as we hope to open our list in the not too distant future at which point our referral forms will be available to download. All referrals will require a completed risk assessment form.
Parents and Carers Support
The services also explores the needs of family, carers and professionals
in contact with people who self harm, providing information, advice and
support. The Project offers Parents and Carers Support Sessions. This
is a 1:1 service for any parent, carer or friend who is dealing with the
issues of suicide and self-harm.
The Project has developed new posters with mini tear off leaflets. Available
in A3 and A4 format, the posters contain information about the Edinburgh
Self-Harm Project and what it offers. Please contact the Project direct
if you would like a supply of posters.
Skin Camouflage Clinic
Formed in partnership with
Changing Faces– the UK charity that supports, represents and campaigns for people who
have disfigurements of the face or body – Penumbra’s Camouflage Clinic
is a new service offering support to people seeking to mask scars or other
marks caused by self-harming.
