1st Response provides face-to-face support throughout East Lothian. Our team will listen to you and help you resolve your crisis. We will provide you with sensitive and non-judgmental support based on your needs, and help you to access other services.

The 1st Response service is run by Penumbra, Stepping Out, and Changes.

Housing support and care at home

The Housing Support service can offer personalised and flexible support to you in your own home. Our staff work across East Lothian and offer recovery focused practical and emotional support that is based on your needs and goals.

This can include help with correspondence, meetings and appointments; budgeting, debt and benefits; shopping and preparing food; and your mental health.

Nova: social inclusion support

Our Nova service promotes wellbeing, recovery and self-management. The aim is to help people who are recovering from a mental health problem to re-connect with people and resources in their community by accessing ordinary activities such as further education, sports, clubs, volunteering, and employment.

People who access the service can be experiencing mild, medium or severe mental health problems and require support to help them identify and overcome the difficulties that stand in the way of them becoming well and living a full, meaningful life.
