Skin Camouflage Clinics and Wellbeing Services
by Changing Faces Claimed
Changing Faces currently offer our clients a number of wellbeing services including a Support and Information line, 1-1 Counselling, Peer Group Support, Children and Family workshops and Skin Camouflage clinics both online and face to face throughout Scotland.
If you or someone you know is affected by a visible difference our Skin Camouflage Service is here to enable you to try skin camouflage as an effective tool for managing a visible difference. By visible difference we mean a mark, scar or condition on any part of the body that affects someone’s appearance and confidence. This service is open to adults and children over the age of 5 and can be used on any area of the body.
Skin camouflage is an easy to apply, long-lasting, waterproof, highly pigmented cream and powder that can be applied over scars and non-infectious skin conditions to help them blend into the unaffected skin tone. It is suitable for a wide range of marks, scars and conditions.
Our practitioners are committed to providing a non judgemental service which focuses on how a condition affects a person and not how large or small this may be in appearance. We have experience of working with a wide range of conditions
• A condition that changes the shape, size, feel or look of the face or body, or how it functions, such as vitiligo and psoriasis.
• A part of the face or body that is different, such as a birthmark.
• Scars, burns or changes to the face or body from an accident, an act of violence or self-harm. These can also occur because of an illness, treatment or operation – for example, due to cancer.
We provide free 1-1 consultations with our RCN accredited practitioners. Our face to face sessions help those with a wide variety of conditions, to find a colour match to their skin tone from a wide range of camouflage products, as well as finding best application methods and techniques. We then provide a prescription request letter to discuss with a GP, as the products are widely available on prescription.
We appreciate how difficult it can be managing changes to your appearance and all that is involved so we have a number of wellbeing services that provide the opportunity to chat someone about any concerns you may have. Our support and information line is a great place to start 0300 012 0275.
