Social Croft Wellbeing Activities and Workshops

by Darach Social Croft Claimed

Darach Croft is a Social Croft, a place to improve wellbeing, enjoy nature, animals and the outdoors.
We are located near Strontian and close to the Ariundle Oakwoods. We offer a range of croft-based agricultural and horticultural activities including meeting and caring for the animals. Spending time in nature and with animals can soothe your stresses and make you smile (we have cows, sheep, chickens, goats and a horse). We can also bring our goats, chickens and animals out to meet you, your community group or school.
We tailor visits to the croft to meet meet you needs, but you can choose to include can include:
Goat walking - meeting our friendly pygmy goats and taking them on a stroll in the local area. They love meeting new people and the scenery locally is worth a visit.
Nature-based craft activities and workshops creating things for you to take home made from natural materials. This can include wool craft, hand spinning and felt making  These sessions are great sensory experiences, using tactile materials such as wool.
Guided nature-mindfulness activities on the croft and in the local area. These are designed to reduce anxiety, stress and depression and help you to relax.
Horticultural Activities include tree planting; growing and caring for plants in the poly tunnel, planting hanging baskets and planters (these are seasonal).
We support people experiencing mental health difficulties who would like a safe and supportive activity that's not based in a clinical setting; people with learning disabilities or autism; people with age-related issues; and anyone else who feels that they would benefit from time away from the world and time with nature and the animals.
We are open daily, but our hours vary a little with the time of year. Contact us to book a session or find out more.
Some of our activities are delivered for free when we can source funding, others require payment but we will work with everyone to the best of our abilities to ensure that they can afford to access our services.
