Kirkintilloch & Kilsyth Swim Team competes in a wide range of competition from mini leagues and mini meets for our youngest swimmers, through graded, open, West District and National Championships for our more developing and experienced swimmers.
Whilst we believe in the value of competition, swimmers are only ever entered into appropriate competition when they are ready.
There is no minimum age to join the club.
Potential members should be able to:
Swim 50m frontcrawl without stopping with good stroke technique. They should be able to use a definite overarm technique (able to get their hand and elbow over the top of the water) and breathe every 3 strokes.
Perform a forward roll in the water and demonstrate a streamlined position off the wall.
Swim 50m backcrawl with straight arm recovery
Swim 25m breaststroke demonstrating the glide between strokes, correct kick method & pull technique and correct timing of breathing.(pull, breath, kick, glide).
demonstrate 10m of basic butterfly action
perform a standing dive.
