Work Experience and Placements

by NHS Lothian

NHS Lothian works with a number of organisations to offer work experience and placement opportunities to individuals who are keen to update their skills and gain relevant experience. Including:

Jobcentre Plus (JCP) - Placements can be arranged through JCP from four up to eight weeks.

The Ability Centre - Adults aged between 16 and 65 with a physical disability can be referred for a centre-based placement.

Into Work - Into Work is a specialised employment support service for disabled jobseekers across Edinburgh, East Lothian and Midlothian.

ENABLE Scotland - NHS Lothian works with ENABLE Scotland to offer placements one day a week for 16 weeks for people with learning disabilities.

Access to Industry (AI) - They help to move excluded people into education and on to employment. At the heart of AI’s work are the Passport and Transition programmes. These are tailored to the needs of those who are moving on from particularly challenging backgrounds, including care, prison and substance misuse. NHS Lothian runs two week placements.

Observer Placements - Observer placements are self arranged placements for students studying within their area of placement or persons qualified in the area of placement.

Volunteering:
As well as work experience and placements, NHS Lothian also has a volunteering service. For more information, visit the volunteering web pages.
