Autism Dogs

Autism Dogs Charity support autistic people and their families through our Assistance Dog Programme. Our dogs’ special skills are designed to support the individual as they engage with the world around them:  

  • Helps to promote healthy sleep
  • Can improve eating and exercise patterns
  • Helps to reduce the frequency and severity of meltdowns
  • Assist in the development of language
  • Can help to improve motor skills and social skills


To apply, you must meet the following requirements:

✔ The applicant must have an official diagnosis of ASD.

✔ The applicant must be at least 4 years old.

✔ The applicant’s permanent residence must be in mainland England, Scotland, or Wales.

✔ The applicant must not have unmanaged epilepsy.


Please note the client is required to contribute £14,990 towards the programme. There are also ongoing costs required in order to care for an Assistance Dog throughout its lifetime; any applicant must make sure that they would be able to cover these costs for the dog’s lifetime.
