Supporting Our Community
Supporting Our Community (SOC) is an award winning (SCVO celebrating communities 2020) SCIO, based in the Hillhouse area of Hamilton. SOC was established in 2019 to advance the provision of recreational facilities and activities through establishing a social hub and delivering a range of recreational activities that allow the local community to meet and pursue a host of hobbies, pastimes, and interests.
We deliver workshops and certified mental health and wellbeing courses with our community partners at NHS Lanarkshire and LAMH (Lanarkshire Association for Mental Health).
We also run regular sessions within our community hub, aimed at tackling isolation and loneliness. These classes include knitting, sewing, crochet, traditional needlecraft and many more, all of which are community led.
We take referrals from a wide range of community partners and signpost our participants to other agencies and groups within the locality.
