Caraidean Uibhist SCIO
Since establishing in 2003, Caraidean has grown to incorporate a range of services, in addition to its thriving "Befriending Service" that gained the charity its positive recognition, we also provide governance and HR support through an SLA Agreement with the Outer Hebrides Drug and Alcohol Partnership to a team of on-island Recovery Support Workers and project manage Caraideans "Family and Friends Support Services" - assisting those affected by addiction.
Our Befriending service supports volunteers in providing one to one companionship; facilitates group activities; encourages folk to attend community events led by other island organisations; and the facilitation of an off-island escort service for medical appointments.
The Caraidean outcomes-based approach is a community-based model that is proactive rather than reactive, the organisation provides early intervention support for folk whose health and wellbeing is deteriorating due to lack of social interaction and cognitive use.
