Interest Link Borders

Interest Link Borders Logo

Founded by family carers in 1990, we work throughout the Scottish Borders to improve the quality of life of children (8+), young people and adults with learning disabilities and their family carers.

Our volunteer befriending service has developed through co-production and takes the most direct approach possible to combating isolation and vulnerability: 200 volunteers aged 10-80 support 265 members in 45 1:1 links and 41 befriending groups.

We aim to overcome community barriers, nurture friendships, provide opportunities, build wellbeing, confidence & social skills, and enable people to reach positive destinations and have fulfilling lives.

Our support is long-term and sustained throughout transitions, helping 300 family carers whose lifelong role is isolating and difficult to sustain.

Our service is delivered through four local projects (Berwickshire, Central Borders, Roxburgh and Tweeddale), each with its own staff, volunteers and local committee.
