Bressay Parkrun

Parkrun is an international initiative that began in Bushy Park in London to encourage people to gather for non-competitive runs and walks together over a distance of 5k. In Shetland, we have our Parkrun in Bressay and we regularly get locals from all over the islands every week.

It is an inclusive event which welcomes everyone to come along and participate and enjoy the benefits of running/walking/jogging 5k, in a very social environment. Friendships are made among regular participants, and connections are made with visitors, some of who come all the way to Shetland just to complete the most northerly Parkrun in the UK! The benefits of exercise to both physical and mental health are well known.
