Motherwell District Women's Aid
Motherwell & District Women's Aid (MDWA) is a grassroots, community driven support platform and network for women and children at risk of domestic abuse.
We actively seek to eliminate discrimination, harassment or victimisation as defined in the Equality Act 2010 on the grounds of: religion, race, age, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, or disability.
We work to ensure that staff, visitors and service users feel safe, welcomed, valued, included and respected.
What we do
- Outreach work – work with women who come to us for support, who may remain in their own home, or have not been admitted to refuge yet
- Follow on work – helping women, children and young people to receive support once they have been re-housed into their new community
- Training, development and awareness raising on the effects of domestic abuse on women, children and young people
- Promote personal development of its members and service users
- Refuge accommodation
- Individual and group support
