Sticky Fingers Club (Quest for Wellbeing Community Group)

Our small community group, Quest for Wellbeing, was established ten years ago in response to concerns regarding a general lack of self-esteem, resilience and optimism within the local community. Our aim was to provide opportunities for people to come together, to build positivity and to nurture a sense of togetherness and belonging.

Due to the demise of coal-mining and other traditional industries our local community experiences high levels of unemployment, poverty and deprivation and there are also a high incidence of mental health difficulties, alcohol and drug dependence, social exclusion and health inequalities and many children’s lives are directly affected by these issues.

In the early days, Quest for Wellbeing was involved in organising classes and events which focused on providing a range of opportunities and positive role models for different age groups within the local community.
