Resolve Mediation

Last updated: 10/11/2025

Sometimes, despite the best efforts of all people involved, disagreements over what support a child or young person should get can cause conflict. Mediation can bring together parents/carers with education teams to try and resolve these disputes.

Mediation will help you work together with the very people who you may think have been giving you a hard time. During mediation you will learn to understand these people better, and to communicate with them. Successful mediation will restore the relationships and allow all to be effective partners to support the child or young person.

Benefits to Mediation

  • Impartial & independent
  • Reach agreements and solutions together through talking and listening
  • Helps everyone understand differing points of view
  • Disagreement can be resolved more quickly rather than through more formal routes
  • Focus is on the best for the child or young person
  • Does not affect other parental rights
