Free Legal Advice Line (Child Law and Children's Rights)

This service is Free to use
Last updated: 09/09/2025

The Scottish Child Law Centre (SCLC) provide free and confidential legal advice about Scots law relating to children and young people. Every advice request we receive is answered by a qualified solicitor.

We’re here to protect children’s rights in lots of different life situations. This includes, education, additional support needs, health, residence, youth offending, accessing records, confidentiality, social work and children’s rights. Children and young people under 21 can get in touch, as can family members, carers and professionals who support them.

Please note: Our Advice Line is temporarily closed due to circumstances outwith our control so we’re unable to provide that free advice right now, however, we’re working hard to get our Advice Line up and running again and remain committed to helping to realise children’s rights through access to justice and our specialist services - check our website for updates and interim options.
