In simple terms, modern slavery is when an individual is selfishly exploited by others. Exploiters do this by taking advantage of the vulnerability of a person or group, for personal or commercial gain. The individual may be tricked, deceived, coerced, or forced, while also losing their freedom. Human trafficking is the process of recruiting and transporting people through deception or coercion for the purpose of exploitation. People can be moved within a town, between regions or between countries.
