Sewing2gether All Nations

Last reviewed: 28/02/2023

This group is a grass roots community based organisation for members of the refugee and asylum seeker community, providing creative workshops, upcycling donated textiles.
Many participants are those with English as a second language, or non-English speakers.
Sewing is a visual experience, so verbal communication is secondary as we use step by step demonstrations - we also incorporate "flash card" picture posters for the most commonly used words.

We encourage members to participate in other activities within the local community, and help them to move on to other opportunities.
We spend time chatting and sharing with each other the things that mean a lot to us from our varied cultures. Hot drinks and a light lunch is provided.
