Children in the Highlands Information Point Plus (Chip+)

This is a Claimed service
Delivered by: Thriving Families This is a Claimed organisation
Last updated: 27/04/2022

CHIP+ provides information, support and advice to the families and carers of children and young people with additional support needs (ASN), and to professionals who work with them. No diagnosis is needed to access the service.

A child or young person has ASNs if they need more, or different, support than what would usually be provided to children or young people of the same age. This could be a child or young person with a disability, a chronic illness, caring responsibilities, mental health issues, difficult family circumstances and a whole myriad of reasons that may limit their ability to fulfil their full potential.

Caring for a child who has ASNs can be a stressful, anxious and lonely experience, and throws up all kinds of questions. Families in Highland often have additional hurdles to overcome because of isolation and lack of local resources.
