NHS Tayside Community Listening Service

by NHS Tayside

Do you need to Talk?

There are times in our lives when we struggle to make sense of things. It could be a major change, time of transition, bereavement or other significant loss, or difficult relationships. We provide 50 minute appointments with experienced, NHS Education for Scotland (NES) trained Listeners to sit alongside you as you explore not just your fears, worries and frustrations, but also any hopes, strengths and choices. The Listeners do not counsel or advocate; they listen carefully and empathically to the story being told, notice and draw attention to any assets that you may have overlooked or underused. Often, simply by being given the uninterrupted opportunity to describe the issue and all accompanying emotions, you are able to gain your own insight into the choices that you have and the strengths you can use.

"I came away with a feeling of optimism. I have since taken positive steps to make some changes in my life, which have improved my mental and emotional wellbeing." (NHS Tayside patient)

Phone or email to book an appointment, or ask at your GP surgery.
