Honeypot Children's Charity

Last reviewed: 21/03/2024

Honeypot supports young carers aged 5-12 who are undertaking a surrogate adult role caring for a loved one. Our programme of respite breaks, online workshops, Social and Emotional Active Learning (SEAL), and a Wellbeing Fund is designed to provide early-intervention, wrap-round support, and to address the challenges commonly faced by young carers, including social isolation, stress and anxiety, poor confidence and low self-esteem, and educational underperformance.

Honeypot operate two existing respite houses: one in the New Forest, Hampshire and a second in

Powys, Wales. Honeypot has recently purchased a former primary school near New Cumnock in East Ayrshire which has recently undergone renovations in order to meet the needs of Honeypot's first respite house in Scotland.

A recent Scottish Health Survey found that there are 93,000 young carers in Scotland, and 29,000 of them are in the 5-15 years age band.
