Shelter Scotland exist to defend the right to a safe home and fight the devastating impact the housing emergency has on people and society.

Our free helpline is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Closed on bank holidays.

Who can call us

  • you’re homeless or about to become homeless
  • you or someone in your home is vulnerable or at risk of harm

How we can help

We do not offer accommodation. We can give you advice on your rights and options if:

  • you have nowhere safe to stay
  • you’re sofa surfing or staying somewhere temporary
  • you’re being evicted or forced out of your home
  • staying in your home is a risk to your health or safety
  • you or someone you live with is vulnerable
  • the council has refused to help you

We'll answer your call as quickly as possible, but we cannot always answer right away. Check our website while you wait. If you need urgent help, you can contact your council at any time of day or night, They have a legal duty to help you.
