These free sessions typically run for 2 hours over a Saturday and Sunday monthly. A full schedule is available on our website, where we also ask for your due date to get you onto the appropriate session. Our sessions are facilitated by our La Leche League accredited volunteer breastfeeding counsellors. They’re experienced in helping families get breastfeeding off to a great start, and providing the resources needed if it doesn’t.


Topics covered include:

  • How milk is made and how breastfeeding works
  • How to tell if your baby is getting enough milk, and how to prepare for postnatal checks at home
  • How to establish and protect your milk supply if your baby is not yet ready to breastfeed
  • Different breastfeeding positions
  • Where to find evidence-based sources of information and support for breastfeeding challenges
  • What to expect as normal newborn behaviour
