BWA provides safe accommodation and specialist support to women and their children. Our women-only spaces provide a physically and emotionally safe environment that is vital to survivors’ safety and recovery, helps women reduce their isolation and enables women to develop peer support networks.
All women accessing our service will work closely with a Support Worker to build a plan for their support to meet their needs, with safety being a priority. Depending on her needs, this contact can range from a one-off consultation to a longer-term involvement. Above all, we listen – so that women know that their experience is validated.
We help women to understand the dynamics of domestic abuse, which is a critical factor in enabling them to take control of their lives and to make well-informed plans for their safety and their futures. We work in many different ways, depending on circumstances and preferences:
• Face-to-face support sessions.
• Telephone/Email/Zoom/MS Teams interactions.
• Groupwork
