Roots Scotland

Last updated: 01/09/2025

WSREC's Roots Scotland project bridges the gap between minority ethnic communities and the heritage sector, in Scotland.

There has been a continuing hunger amongst the heritage sector to ensure that services are equitable, diverse and inclusive and through the delivery of training, consultancy, support and advice we have been able to guide numerous organisations to better engage with minority ethnic communities and vice versa. Examples of the type of work that we have been delivering include:

  • EDI Training and Consultancy support to sector staff, with a keen focus on improving engagement with minority ethnic communities
  • Facilitated workshops between key stakeholders and minority ethnic led groups to explore project ideas and scope for collaboration, through funding opportunities and otherwise
  • The general promotion of the historic environment and cultural heritage to minority ethnic communities and address barriers to entry within the heritage sector
