Intandem aims to promote the wellbeing of each and every child who is matched with a mentor. All of the young people who are referred into the service are between the ages of 8 and 14 and on a Compulsory Supervision Order, i.e. looked after at home and living with parent(s) or legal guardian. The focus in every mentoring relationship is on developing the child or young person, recognising and building their strengths, and providing support and encouragement to deal with difficult and challenging situations in their lives. The key outcomes that are looked for are:
Increased self-confidence
Increase self-esteem
Broader social networks / More positive social relationships
More engaged with the local community
Reduced isolation
