National Breastfeeding Helpline

Last updated: 08/12/2025

Trained breastfeeding counsellors are available at the National Breastfeeding Helpline. Our volunteers are happy to talk to mums, partners, families – anyone who has a question or concern about breastfeeding.

The helpline is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

If you don’t mind waiting for a reply, you can get in touch with us by email. We’ll try to reply within five working days although sometimes we can get back to you sooner.

The National Breastfeeding Helpline and ABM also offer a web chat breastfeeding support service for mums and their supporters in the UK. It is a confidential one-to-one secure online chat with a trained breastfeeding supporter.

Web chat breastfeeding support service is a confidential one-to-one secure online chat with a trained breastfeeding supporter. It works like instant messaging – it’s just typing, there are no webcams, and the only people who can see the chat are you and the volunteer supporter.
