PANS (Paediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) and PANDAS (Paediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Strep) are infection-induced immune-mediated conditions, commonly presenting with physical and psychiatric symptoms.

The PANS PANDAS Steering Group (PPSG) is currently overseeing the development of UK-wide clinical guidelines for the diagnosis and management of PANS and PANDAS, endorsed by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH). Publication is expected in 2026. In the interim, the PPSG have released guidance to inform clinical decision making.
