Dumfries and Galloway Over 50s Group promotes friendship amongst older people in the region, to combat loneliness and isolation. Anyone in the area over 50 can come along to their monthly open meetings, where they can relax and enjoy social interaction.
These meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month from 2.00 pm – 4.00 pm. The group invites speakers to talk on topics, including ones of particular interest and importance to older people. The group also organises outings, social lunches and both a Christmas and Burns’ Lunch.
A membership scheme operates at £20 per annum, for those wishing to join. Membership is not compulsory but subscriptions received do supplement Group funds. Anyone coming along for the first time is our guest and as such their first visit is free. After which they can either become an annual member or pay a day-member rate of £3 per visit.
