National Entitlement Card

Last reviewed: 03/08/2021

The NEC is one card offering access to many public services. The NEC is quick to use - just flash it over a reader and it scans automatically.

You may recognise or know the NEC as your:

Bus pass
Library card
Leisure membership card
Young Scot card
To find out which services can be accessed with the NEC in your area, please visit the interactive map on 'Where to Use Your NEC'.

Please note: due to the current Scottish Government restrictions, your card may take longer to arrive than normal. Please allow 4 weeks for your card to arrive during this time.

Applications for new, replacement and renewal National Entitlement Cards are now being accepted. However, the services available at each council will vary.

The Post Office have resumed age 60+ application handing in the Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) area and other areas that would normally offer this service.

For queries on applying for a card within your local council please contact them directly – details of your council can be found on COSLA's council webpage.

If you have a specific query surrounding concessionary travel, please read Transport Scotland's advice, or contact Transport Scotland: concessionarytravel@transport.gov.scot

The National Entitlement Card Programme Office thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.
