What is a Crisis Grant

Crisis grants aim to help people who are in crisis because of a disaster or emergency, e.g.:

  • a fire or flood at home
  • a victim of domestic abuse and need help with things like moving away from an abuser
  • caring for a child, and waiting on a transfer of benefits
  • facing a gap in normal income because of a redundancy or change at work
  • being released from prison

  • Employment & Support Allowance (ESA) - Income based
  • Universal Credit
