Mental Welfare and Disability Rights Advice Line
We protect the rights of people with mental illness, learning disabilities, dementia and related conditions by supporting people with their own lived experience.
What we can advise on
We can provide information and advice for professionals in relation to rights and good practice to do with:
- Mental health and incapacity law
- Care and treatment
If we cannot help directly, we can signpost you to other organisations who can.
What we can't advise on
We won't:
- Give specific legal advice
- Comment on whether diagnosis or medication is correct
- Take complaints about services (you need to complain locally; your advocate can help you)
Our phone advice line is open Monday to Friday, from 9am to 12pm and then from 1pm to 4pm. Calls are free.
We use a call back system where we take brief details of your query and a contact number. This means our staff can try to look into some background on your query before calling you back.
