Advocacy can assist you to have as much choice and control as possible. It’s up to you if you want to have an advocacy worker or not. Your advocacy worker will be on your side, helping you to say what you want.

We are independent from everyone else and only work for you. Your Advocacy Worker can help you to:

  • Say how you feel and what you want
  • Ask questions and understand what is happening
  • Understand your rights  

Your advocacy worker can help you to have your voice heard about: 

  • your care and treatment plan;
  • school and education;
  • housing;
  • employment;
  • benefits;

and anything else that you need support with.

CAPS Advocacy Workers can help you if you are: 

  • aged 5-18
  • live in East Lothian, Midlothian, West Lothian, or Edinburgh, (either in the community or in hospital);
  • experiencing an eating disorder, or think you might be. You do not need to have a formal diagnosis to receive advocacy support from our service.
