Fresh Start helps people make a home for themselves. Our project delivers a range of services offering both practical and social support to help people build confidence, skills and feel more settled within their communities. We work with adults 16 years+ in Edinburgh on a referral basis. All of our services are free for service users.

Cooking Classes
Do you like good food and great company? Come and join our four week cooking course to gain confidence making simple meals from fresh ingredients or sign up to one of our eight week cook clubs or supper clubs. Enjoy making new friends and sharing good food with others.

Gardening
Do you enjoy being outside? Are you keen to learn new skills? Why not become part of our friendly and supportive gardening team? Learn to grow and enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables as a garden volunteer.

Painting & Decorating Hit Squads
Do you need help to decorate your tenancy? Have you recently been rehoused following a period of homelessness? We can provide paint and a team of volunteers to work alongside you to decorate 2 rooms in your new home. Ask your support worker to refer you for a hit squad.

Starter Packs
Starter packs provide new tenants with supplies to help them settle into a new home. This can include things like small household items, electrical appliances and food. These packs can be accessed through the Gateway service.

Training Initiative
Are you looking to gain confidence and practical experience to get back into work? Our Jump Start training programme can give you work experience and a SQA accredited qualification to help you back into the work place.
