Govanhill Gears - Children and Young People Cycling Club
by Bike for Good Claimed
Bike for Good is currently delivering a project for children & young people in the Greater Govanhill area. The project is called ‘Govanhill Gears’ and aims to improve physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of children & young people in the local area through a variety of cycling activities. The project aims to increase the connections that children & young people have with their local community.
There are currently two regular activities running from our South hub, along with occasional day trips and events.
youth fix your own bike (yfyob) or build your own bmx (byobmx)
Children aged 10-18 years are invited to come and repair their own bike, or build up a donated bike. We provide tools, stands, spare parts and mechanic instruction.
kids cycle club
Children aged 8-16 years who are able to cycle without stabilisers are invited to come join our cycle rides around the local parks. We provide bikes, helmets, and instructors.
No need to book, first come first serve, if the session is full then you will get priority the following week.
We also do group cycling lessons for children on Saturdays at both our South and West Hubs. Due to our Safeguarding Policy, if you are bringing your child to have a lesson with us, a responsible adult must accompany the child for the duration of the lesson. These lessons are best suited for children who are of school age.
You need to book in for these sessions, and you can do so by contacting email@example.com
