Independent Advocacy and Addictions

Delivered by: Ceartas
Last reviewed: 10/01/2018

Independent Advocacy for adults (aged 16 or over) who are normally resident in East Dunbartonshire.

Independent advocacy is a way to help you to make your voice stronger and to have as much control as possible over your own life. Advocacy Workers do not make decisions on your behalf and they will not put words in your mouth. Independent Advocacy will help you get the information you need to make good choices, and give you the help you need to express yourself clearly.

Independent Advocacy can help someone with addiction issues to access the support and services they need for their recovery; it can support them to rebuild relationships with family, friends and professionals; and it can give them information and help them explore the options to plan for a sustainable and successful recovery.
