Last updated: 13/11/2025

SIAA is the national intermediary organisation supporting, promoting and advocating independent advocacy across Scotland. Independent advocacy is a way to help people have a stronger voice and to have as much control as possible over their own lives.

Please note that SIAA does not provide independent advocacy services, it is our members organisations that provide advocacy services. Our members provide indepedent advocacy on the following:

  • individual independent advocacy in the communities, hospitals, and prison settings
  • organisations specialising in citizen advocacy
  • carers advocacy organisations
  • collective advocacy groups based in hospitals, care homes and the community
  • organisations providing independent advocacy to remote and rural communities
